Sadly, sharks have been vilified around the world in today’s culture as vengeful and vicious, giving them a bad image.
However, sharks play an important role in maintaining the quality of marine environments by feeding on their prey – key among which are rays.
On the other hand, rays also play an important role in their habitats by acting as ‘cleaning’ fish, and feeding on organisms that live on, close to, or just below the bottom.
