The Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi (EAD) celebrated "UAE Innovation Month" by organizing a set of activities and events aimed at educating employees about the importance of innovation and its role in improving institutional performance and increasing productivity.
Abu Dhabi, 23 February 2023 - The Abu Dhabi Sustainability Group (ADSG), with the support of the Environment Agency-Abu Dhabi (EAD) will be organizing an interactive Hiwar (Arabic for dialogue) session on the 'Path to a Nature-Positive Future', on 2nd March, 2023. The digital knowledge sharing webinar will be held in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW), the global platform for accelerating sustainable development hosted by Masdar.
There is no doubt that planetary health is in a state of emergency with the UN reporting a code-red for the climate change crisis and biodiversity loss due to rising global temperatures. The next few years require governments, businesses, investors, and communities to move towards a more environmentally conscious level of operating. This is so economies function, to not only stabilize damage to our ecosystems, but work to enhance and accelerate their recovery.
Climate change is one of the core pillars and strategic priority areas of the ADSG Strategy for the next five years. This session will build on providing a regionally sensitive focus on the integration of nature-positive approaches into governance processes and building a business case for nature-based solutions. This is in addition to providing a global perspective on how companies and governments are moving from vision to action with nature at the forefront of their decision making.
This Hiwar session, will be one of a long-standing series of regular talks, that will see over 100 senior sustainability professionals and practitioners joining across all disciplines and sectors. It serves as a key platform to drive ADSG’s mission to accelerate knowledge mobilization and empower various sectors in the Emirate to engage and support the delivery of the UAE Government’s agenda to tackle biodiversity loss and reduce carbon emissions by 2050.
“Seven years after the Paris Agreement most businesses are still wrestling with the consequences of the 1.5 degree target for their business model and supply chains. Imagine then the sense of urgency and support businesses will require to become “Nature Positive” within the coming seven years (by 2030). That’s the latest Sustainability challenge thrown at businesses by the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework adopted by 188 countries last December. But with great challenges come great opportunities and at Sustainamics we look forward to supporting businesses in their journey of transformation and innovation for superior sustainable performance.”
